The courses introduced students to the following tools, skills and techniques:

i) Identification, selection and use of appropriate hand tools to measure and mark wood for accurate cutting.
ii) Identification, selection and use of appropriate saws and chisels to create simple neat wood joints.
iii) Preparation and sharpening of a new chisel.
iv) Techniques for creating dowelled joints.
v) How to make and set up “jigs” to hold work safely when using power tools.
vi) An introduction to and hands-on use of a Biscuit Jointer.
vii) An introduction to and hands-on use of a Router.
viii) An introduction to and hands-on use of a Bench Drill.
